Tomoyasu Hotei - Electric Samurai
“Battle Without Honor or Humanity”
I’m not going to write a long review here; I just wanted to post this song in case you haven’t heard it already (which, unless you don’t have a TV and/or really hate everything, is practically impossible). You may know it best as “the Kill Bill song”. Even if you’ve already heard it, check it out again. I love this song.
The album that this song is on, Electric Samurai (The Noble Savage), is really good. I was introduced to Hotei through André by chance, and I find myself digging the album more and more with every listen. Hotei could most easily be described as a hard rock version of Moby, but his true guitar skills extend beyond the electronica featured on Samurai (save the ending track, “Fetish”, which features some excellent guitar work). Check out the rest of the album on Allofmp3.
My favorite songs on the album:
- “Battle Without Honor or Humanity”
- “Immigrant Song” (imagine David Bowie and Stabbing Westward covering this classic Led Zeppelin tune)
- “Frozen Memories”
- “Believe Me, I’m A Liar”
Tip: If you sign into Allofmp3, you’ll get full-length previews instead of 30 second previews. For the whole album. Yeah, free full-length previews. Sw33tness.
BTW, if anyone knows of a good service to use for embedding MP3s into blog posts, please LMK in the comments below. Thx.
