Template Change

André mentioned, a few days ago, that he wanted to modify or change his website theme. I started looking through ‘em and found this one that I’m using now. After some major color updates, changing every image from a yellowish green to blue and some hardcore editing of the CSS file, I really like this theme. However, as is customary with any major update I make on my site, something is amiss - namely, the tags aren’t working. The Search function is working, so at least I have that going. I’ll try to work on the tag function soon.

  1. Wowww what a change, man!!

    I notice the asides are appearing in the main RSS feed too?

    If I could ask for one thing it would be to give the whole thing a max-width? I’m on 1600×1200 and it’s reallllyy wide and I can’t take the whole thing in at once.

  2. LOL, good point about the max-width. I’m not exactly sure how to implement that myself, but I could probably figure it out. I think the theme’s creator has that in the works anyway.

    So what do you think about including the asides in the RSS feed? (Thanks for using my RSS feed, BTW :) ). I like having ‘em in there but I wish there was an easy way to distinguish between asides and regular posts in the feed. I’ll try some things and maybe get it sorted out. But let me know what you think about including them in the RSS feed in general. Thx :D

  3. #container {
    margin: 0 auto; (want it to be centered when max-width is reached)
    padding: 20px;
    text-align: left;
    background: url(images/chungo_bg_grey_right.gif) repeat-y right bottom;
    max-width: 1000px; (or something like that)
    }

    I think that would do it… wouldn’t work in IE but thats okay. Maybe give it a go see what happens?

    Hmm I’m not sure about the asides in the main feed. I loaded up netvibes and you had like 4 new posts but turned out there was only one! I’m sure wordpress has a thing for seperate feeds?… can’t really help there I’ve never used it!

    Having a seperate feed is the norm for that kind of thing.

  4. Hi!

    Saw you talking in the comments to Andreas over on the theme page and decided to take a look. Looks great!

    Did have a question, if you don’t mind, how did you change the colors? I love the theme, but really want to change out of that yellowish/green. I would be forever in your debt if you could give me some tips!

    Thanks
    Sean

  5. Do I have to come back over there and fix your tags again?! ;-). I’ll take another look in my spare time if you’d like. If your classes.php, line 1542 still begins with: if (!preg_match("!^tag/!", ..., then the old patch is still in place and something else is awry. Otherwise, should be a quick fix.
