Don’t Buy from Eforcity

February 4th, 2008 |

This is an email I sent to Amazon but I thought that wasn’t enough, so I’m posting it here for all to see. To fill you in, I bought an HDMI cable from them but shipping took a long time, so they responded to my complaint with an “offer”…

I received the following email from Amazon merchant Eforcity after I left feedback for them on Amazon.com. I wanted to bring this to your attention because I don’t think it’s right that Eforcity is trying to bribe me out of my honest feedback, and I don’t think that Amazon should continue doing business with them unless they stop this practice. It would be one thing for them to give me a refund because they felt that it would be the right thing to do, but it’s completely unethical to try to pay me to shut me up.

This the email I received:

“Dear Dean E Nelson ,

RE: Amazon order #6264875

Thank you very much for shopping with us on Amazon.com.

We have noticed that you left a negative feedback on your order. We apologize that you were not happy with your purchase, and we would try our very best to resolve the problem with you. To extend our apologies for this inconvenience, we would like to offer you a $5.00 refund if the feedback is removed on Amazon. As soon as the feedback is removed, we will issue the refund transaction via Amazon.com as the product did not live up to your expectations.”

The email went on to thoroughly explain how to remove the feedback, and then how to get back in touch with them once I’ve done so. I can tell you this much for sure - I will never do business with Eforcity again. I hope that you will ask Eforcity to stop buying out negative feedback, as it ruins the integrity of the entire Amazon feedback system.

Thank you,
Dean E Nelson

  1. I received this response from Amazon this morning:

    Greetings from Amazon.com.

I’m sorry to learn that you’ve had concerns about your seller’s request to remove feedback. As we note in our Community Rules, “any attempt to manipulate ratings of any participant is prohibited.”

I’ve forwarded your message to our Seller Policing team for their consideration.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We look forward to seeing you again soon at Amazon.com.

I’m glad that this kind of thing is already incorporated into Amazon’s rules; I just hope that they actually do something about it.

  2. I had bad experience with eforcity on ebay too. The item has not yet arrived after more than two weeks, which is unfortunately time sensitive. What makes me angry is that eforcity use their own “tracking website” in order to fool us that the item is on its way, while they cannot provide a tracking number despite that I asked for it directly for many times.

Unfortunately I do not know what i can do since it is an ebay transaction. I guess amazon is doing better on this matter.

  3. That sucks, Kevin. Try making a dispute with eBay here: http://ebay.com/dispute

    Hope that helps.

Well, there is definatly alot of similar problems with my order. I bough directly from eforcity.com over 2 weeks ago. I have called their 1-888-891-2489 phone number over half a dozen times at all different times leaving extensive messages. Im getting quite fucking pissed that no-one picks up and no-one calls me back. I’m half temped on my near future trip to Vegas to take a little drive to Their store location and forcefully get my products the hard way/ I am Fucking Pissed with Eforcity. If you guys know of anoter phone number through Amazon or Eforcity plz let me know. I have bought through Amazon numerous times. Thanks Chris aka one very pissed off Canadian

  5. Hey Chris. That sucks about your order. Here’s the number for Amazon: 800 201 7575. Maybe you can call them and see if they have a different number for Eforcity. Good luck.

  6. [...] In doing some more research, things get even more interesting regarding the validity of rating you read on the company.  See here. [...]

  7. Thanx for taking the time to warn others. I wish everyone would. I almost bought a Sony battery through the Amazon link. It is for a birthday in 2 weeks. Will buy elsewhere.

  8. I’m still waiting for a refund, don’t believe the 100% guaranteed. I ordered several things, I didn’t get what I ordered, and some of it was damaged, they don’t ship in a box they literally throw things in a bag and mail it. Then they think I should still pay the postage. If they did things right I would. DON’T BUY FROM EFERCITY.

Maybe i’m desensitized, but let me guess, they had the cheapest price, and their feedback was decent but not the best? If one was to look at their feedback, majority of the time customers are satisfied, but it sucks a$$ when your order has a problem? yeah been there done that, i know exactly the kind of shop they are, cheap high volume, they get the items in huge bulk, roll them out for little profit, and keep moving, the don’t aim to be like a bloomingdales or what not, more like a $0.99 store, but to be honest i bet with out them we pay $$$ at the verizon shop for some cheap stupid part, at least they cared to take some action, i’ve had orders for cheap stuff where you get nothing in terms of action or response…move on dude
