What a Great Weekend

Friday:

We went to the Bistro Montage. Though there’s not nearly enough waiting room inside, it was a pretty nice night so we benched outside until we were called in. (The wait was about 40 minutes.) Once inside, we were seated at the end of a table. It might sound pretty random to point that out but the seating is “family style” - that is, elementary school cafeteria style - so being on the end was a huge plus. The menu was pretty diverse, covering pastas to Idon’trememberwhat, but I opted for the nightly special - salmon stuffed in a pastry. It was de-lish. The atmosphere was excellent except for the unmerciful choir of obnoxious screaming chefs behind the bar. I really don’t know what that’s all about as it really takes away from the appeal of the establishment as a whole, bringing the ambiance down from 5/5 to 3.5/5. Overall, I’d go back but probably on a less busy weekday.

Christina & Sierra

Saturday:

Aside from the crazy drunk lady down the street, being in such a hippy-friendly neighborhood has its perks. There was an Earth Day festival at the park down the street from us. Sierra got her face painted as a housecat. I learned more about Free Geek, switched to renewable energy, and signed a petition to help forest restoration. We also picked up some plants for Christina’s garden and got some T-shirts that say “get dirty.” Image

Afterwards, I headed over to André’s to go frisbee golfing (aka disc golfing, aka frolfing). Though we had to run all over the place - GI Joe’s to get frisbees, which they didn’t have; another GI Joe’s, to actually get frisbees; Best Buy, to purchase an FM transmitter because the one I had sucked; Coffee People, because peanut butter banana milkshakes are teh roxxor; then finally the course itself, which we drove by twice before finding it - once we got to frolfing, things went pretty smoothly. Frolfing was actually very peaceful, yet fun. Dré’s really getting into it, and I’d honestly like to follow. The discs are cheap and, as much as I hate to admit it, I slipped out of my workout routine and I think it’ll be hard to get back into it. Plus, if I cancel my membership with 24 Hour Fitness, that’ll save us about $40/mth - enough to pay for extended basic cable. Image

Sunday:

Sunday is “my day” with Sierra - wherever I go, she goes (and vice versa). I didn’t get an FM transmitter on Saturday because I was told that they would make an exception for me and I could bring my crappy one back even though I didn’t have the receipt or packaging. I purchased this crappy Belkin Tunecast II off of eBay for $15 (including shipping) - Best Buy gave me $51.99 of in-store credit for it. Cha-ching! So I got the iriver brand transmitter since that’s the same brand as my MP3 player, which works great, and Sierra got Finding Nemo. I’m not a huge fan of that movie - I honestly thought it was a little boring - but kids love it so what can I do. Then Sierra and I hunted for a man-purse similar to André’s. It’s the perfect size for most anything a guy could want to carry - an MP3 player, maybe a laptop and, of more recent importance, frisbees. We went to Old Navy, where Sierra got a hat; Ross, where Sierra and I each got a new Gamecube controller; and Target, where I got toilet paper. No man-purses though. I’ll have to check Hot Topic, though the last time I went there they didn’t really have any.

Once Sierra and I got home, we and Christina went to the Oak’s Bottom Public House (formerly Jones’ Pub) off of Bybee and Milwaukie. The service was OK, and the food was good at reasonable prices so we’ll go back. Next time, I wanna try their “tot-chos” - tater tots with salsa, sour cream, and cheese. Image

So that was my weekend in a nutshell, jam packed full o’ tasty goodness. How was yours?
